First off, I must say these past five years have gone by fast. You know everything they said about time moving faster with age. It's true. But who cares? Right? As Bob Dylan summizes at the end of It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding,) "It's life and life only."

Secondly, y'all have been great making these threads some of the liveliest here on hockeybuzz. Yeah, there are moments, and with the way the Sabres have played since the 2014-15 season, there's been plenty to complain, laugh and cry about. I won't begrude anyone for being pessimistic or downright mean when it comes to talking about their beloved hockey team, because ownership and management have given them plenty of reasons to feel that way. For the most part that anger has been directed towards the team in general and the times it became personal, eventually you all worked it out (although some grudges are still being held.)

It's not surprising to have those types of emotions as fans of a team that has been the worst team in the entire league over that timespan. A record of 149-208-53 (.428 win percentage) will do that to a fan base and the constant misfires from general manager to coaches makes one wonder if Buffalo will ever get out of it. If the Sabres continue on this path of changing things up every couple of years, they may never, but one would think that GM Jason Botterill is on the right track, at least when it comes building his hockey operations with a long-term focus in mind. Short-term it's been trying as he could have done more to help his Sabres take a step closer to the playoffs but he didn't, for whatever reason, and the band played on.
