It Sure Looks As If the Rochester Americans Will Be Back In the Fold

While browsing news in the hockey world, Yahoo's Puckdaddy directed me to the Miami Herald.

On Frozen Pond's George Richards delves into Florida Panthers news and near the bottom of his reporting, a couple of interesting tidbits concerning their AHL affiliate, or lack there-of.

The blurb actually is about center Mark Cullen and his two-way contract back in the AHL again. Richards continues, "By signing Cullen, you have to assume the Panthers will have their own AHL team next season. It won't be in Rochester, but I'm hearing places like Portland, Maine, and Norfolk, Va., could be in play for the Panthers."

Panthers Assistant General Manager Mike Santos alludes to the possibility of Florida no longer being associated with Rochester, "We're expecting to have an AHL affiliate, I just don't know where it will be,'' Santos said. “I am confident we'll have a place of our own, and I wasn't confident of that earlier this summer. There are many things in play right now.''

Sounds as if it's pretty much a done deal.

Sabres owner Terry Pegula is reuniting
the past with the present.
The Rochester Americans seem destined
to return to the fold.
Looks like Terry Pegula and company are well on their way to pairing the Buffalo Sabres with the Rochester Americans once again and continuing a once long-running relationship with their neighbors one hour to the east.

  1. You mean Mark Cullen. He was just re-signed by FLA.
